Smells of Summer & Packing

This morning I opened up the window and carried in on the breeze was a very familiar smell, but one I hadn’t experienced in a long time. It’s a distinctive smell that I remember from living in the Northeast- and maybe Colorado- I’m not sure. The smell of cool greenery carried on a warm wind that hints that it’s going to be a beautiful, toasty, summer day. And it has been. Nothing but blue skies today which is great!

Our loaded blue duffle bag matches the blue sky, although not quite as big. We’ve loaded it up with everything we don’t want to carry for the next 7 weeks and it will take an early trip back to the Phoenix to wait for us with Walter- Geo & Krissy’s roommate. The hope was to lighten our load, although I fear that our backpacks may still be a bit heavy. Oh well, at least the clothes we plan on trashing at camp in a couple weeks can get jettisoned at that point.

So as our time in Prague comes to an end, we’ll join in the World Cup madness this evening to go down to watch the USA v. Czech Republic game on big screens set up in Old Town Square. As a fellow American here in Prague stated when asked who she’d be cheering for, she stated “I’ll be wearing red, white & blue”: also the colors of the Czech flag. So we’ll go eat sausages & sauerkraut and join in with locals and get caught up in football madness and enjoy a beautiful summer evening.

P.S. American guys played poor football... 3-0 Czech Republic.
