Transportation Paradigm Shifts

So today we took the bus ride from Wanaka to Fox Glacier. Our itinerary showed that we’d get on the bus shortly before 9 in the morning and arrive in Fox Glacier shortly before 4 in the afternoon, so we settled in for what we thought would be a long haul bus ride. My American mind set on getting from point A to point B was rather surprised to find the bus stopping merely 30 minutes into the ride: a photo op stop. Okay, that works… I like taking pictures! The ride continued in the same such way, late tea stop, photo stop, photo stop, lunch stop, photo stop, photo stop, offload passengers stop, pick up passengers… ok, now we finally made it to point B: Fox Glacier! I think the longest time we had to actually sit on the bus was 45 mintues!
